Question
i have been trying to draw a line by directly entering a length value in the 2002 version of autocad and sometimes i have to zoom in on the line to enter in a direct length. if im not zoomed in close enough the message "zero length line created at (x,y,z) values must be postive and nonzero" and when you zoom in on the attepmted line there is only a dot (zero length line) in its place.... my question is if there is a setting that can be changed to stop from seeing this message........because it is interfering with an autolisp program that automatically does a detail of a selected item.......it will not let the autolisp display the title and leader info that it is programed to do.........i remember i ran into this problem once before but don't remember the way i fixed it or how i found the fix in the first place....i hope i have included enough info to explain my problem and any help is appreciated....thank you

Please send an example of the drawing and problem to the following email address:

I will have a better idea how to solve the problem.  It sounds to me, though that you might have your running OSNAPs set to something that is there at the point or distance you type in at the command line.  Check that out before sending, by turning off your OSNAPS (F3).

Can you also send the LISP routine?  Lisp routines should be able to turn off the system variable that causes a problem and then turn in on again or set it back the way it was at the end of the routine.  I can check that it does that.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
