Question On August 16, 2000 a friend and I went to Minute Maid Park in Houston, Tx to see the Astros vs. the Pirates. We got there early and I managed to catch both Jose Lima and Octavio Dotel practicing. I called out to Lima and they both signed my ball as a crowd gathered around me. I have the ticket stub to go with the ball. My first question is what is any baseball worth with two signatures? The second, what do I have on my hands? I've never had it appraised.
Answer Jeff,
Sorry to disappoint you, but the baseball has only modest value which depends on the condition and type of ball. Perhaps $25 to $50 at the very most.
Even though Lima died very young, he was a prolific signer during his playing days so it is not a rare signature. There are currently 77 Lima autographs on eBay right now, mostly cards and photos but a few balls.
I can answer most questions regarding the appraising, authenticating, buying or selling of modern (20th century to present) autographs of all genres including Hollywood, music, politics, sports and more.
I have owned and operated AutographsForSale.com, the Web's #1 Place for Authentic Autographs, since 1999.
I am the world's top expert on Tiger Woods autographs, having followed his signing habits since 1996. I was featured on the premiere episode of the TLC show Auctioneer$ to evaluate a questionable Tiger Woods autographed golf ball.
