Hi there, I have a BMW 320i (1991) and a warning light has occassionally been coming up under the tachometer. It looks like this -> (!). I don't have the owners manual either.

hi daniel,its your brake fluid level indicator.it is probably low but before you just top it off see if the system has a leak.front and rear wheels and an easy way is to see if the inner tires have any fluid on them,also look inside the hood at the master cylinder for seepage and under the drivers footwell at the brake pedal.if your fluid level is ok then the sensor on the master cylinder is faulty,thats the cap itself,so hope this helps.......oh yea also look at the front pads ,the fluid level drops as the pads wear down,
