Automotive/1991 Nissan Sunny LS Radio Malfunction

Question
I recently bought a Nissan Sunny second hand but the radio did not work. In an attempt to change it i removed the radio from its cage (by removing the console around the dash). After unplugging it, under a whim i tried putting the cable back in, and funnily enough it worked, so i turned it off, put it back in the cage, screwed the console back on, tried the radio again, but it didn't work (blue screen light came on but no sound)..thinking it might be a loose connection i took the radio out again, unplugged and replugged and as before it worked. So to make sure the connection was fine, i reinserted the radio into the cage, only this time i left the radio on while i did it.

Once everything was how it was in the first place i turned my radio off, but when i turned it on again a few minutes later, the light came on as before but no sound!
very frustrating, any input much appreciated.

Answer
It sounds like a bad connection on the plug in.By the cable i take it you mean the electric plug?......If it works ok when you remove it,trace all the wires and make sure they are tight and not touching each other or the metal body. You can always replace the plug in and see if that works.Remove the radio and try plugging and unplugging to see what happens. You can buy the wire plug on line ,ebay or similar web sites have them.Look at where the plug goes, not into the radio but from the radio to the loom itself it may go back a little from the radio into the dash but worth a look.Clean all connections and try again.
