Question
Starts and runs but wont go, give it gas and it falls on its face. Replaced distributor/ cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, vac lines. Ran ok after replacing above items for 2 months, now doing it again. Timing set. Problem starts slow and gets to the point where you have to rev to 3K just to take off. What is the problem?

Answer
what you describe could be fuel flow ,or lack of it,i would test the fuel pressure and do a vacuum test on the engine, the tester is cheap and you can buy em at any parts store.also it will tell you if you have a vacuum leak at the intake manifold cos these fords are notorious for this problem.and could be the EGR valve sticking open,,,,just doesnt sound like electrical, more fuel,so good luck hope this helps.im assuming the engine dies altogether,,,,,,,isnt a transmission problem?
