Question HELLO BEN, I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE, I THINK MAY BE A WATER PUMP GONE BAD. HOWEVER, THE NOISE IS WORST WHEN THE A/C IS RUNNING. I REPLACED THE BELT IDLER, FINDING THE BEARING MARGINALLY BAD, BUT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. PLEASE ADVISE, I NEED A SOLUTION. THANK YOU, JIM
Answer If you can spin the Water Pump with the Belt off, you may be better able to isolate the source of whatever noise you're hearing. If the bearings in the Pump are really bad, the Pump will make some kind of noise, at virtually any speed its turned at. Other than the Pump, the only other culprit I can think of, would be the A/C Compressor Clutch and Pulley assembly.
