QUESTION: I need to replace the fuel pump on my wifes 2001 VW jetta I just need to know location and if it is feasible to do this without a lift
ANSWER: which model is it?2 door?auto or manual?

QUESTION: Not sure what model but it is a 4 door auto with 1.8L

OK,the 1.8 pump will be in the tank.Look first in the trunk to see if it has a access panel as some VWs did.Or it may be under the rear seat  but if not then you must lower the tank.Without a hoist it is harder but it can be done with a jack and axle stands.
