Automotive - 1986 Dodge Ram 150 SE

Expert: Ben Deutschman - 1/16/2008

Question
I saw you answered a question about an 85 150 SE, so here goes.  I think my starting is about to crap out.  Please tell me what it looks like and where to find it and the best way to replace it.  I have also seen some info about "upgrading" to an easier to install starter that will work for my "beast".  I use it exclusively as a plow truck and we are starting to get some snow up here.....  Thanks for any help.

Answer
I'll take shot at this one too.

I'm assuming you have a V-8, and if so, you may be able to get an aftermarket Starter through Summit, http://www.summitracing.com/, or Jegs http://www.jegs.com/. Generally though, the original Chrysler Starters were High-Torque Starters right from the Factory, however, it couldn't hurt to check out Summit or Jegs.
