Question
I recently picked up this car to put my other in the garage. I need to know what would cause the car to just shut off? The Tach jumps around right before it dies. It has happened while driving and while at an idle. I replaced the battery, cap and rotor, checked all the wires and plugs and fuses. Everything looks good. Can you help?

You need to do the basic tests such as fuel and ignition to see which has failed.Fuel pressure test at the rail with a proper fuel pressure tester.Ignition can be checked by inserting a new plug in one of the wires and spin the engine over but do not touch the plug.Lay it on the cylinder head and if you have spark,then the ignition is ok.If you have no or low fuel pressure,the pump would be next and or the relay.Check all fuses also.
