Automotive - Pulling harmonic balancer off 1996 Honda Accord

Expert: Ron Cris - 1/5/2008

Question
I have tried every conceivable means of removing the bolt on holding the harmonic balancer in place on my accord.  The bolt will not budge.  I have used an air impact wrench, broken several sockets and that bolt will not budge.  Tell me what I am doing wrong

Answer
I have had the same problem in the past..
they are guled with loctite..
try heating the bolt with a torch to burn the glue inside the threads..
You may also try mounting a large braker bar with an impact socket on the bolt..
Strap the breaker bar in a good postition to not harm any thing in the way..
Next remove the coil wire so it wont start up..
Bump the starter untill you hear the bolt break loose..
Good luck with that..
