Question
I am rebuilding a 79 chevy 350 motor. i am having the machine shop bore the cylinders .030, and install flat top pistons. I would like this motor to be a good street engine, with low range torque and a smooth idle. I would like to know if a set of 305 heads with 1.74 intake valves would be a better choice than a set of 350 heads with 1.94 valves. I plan on installing an Edelbrock cam with 204-214 degree duration, and the stock Chevy 4 barrel intake manifold. The motor is going in a 1952 Oldsmobile, and is backed to a GM 700R4 trans. Thanks for your help.

Answer
305 heads will increase the compression with flat tops ratio to 10.5:1
you will need to run premium fuel..
I have done that befor..It is a cheap way to get more power..It will work great..
