Question
My automatic Grand Vitara has started to thrust itself into gear instead of smooth gear change - any ideas please?
Many thanks Jo

Answer
I dont do any work on automatic transmissions, however, harsh shifting can be caused by,worn clutch packs, band needs adjusted, worn solenoid/governor.ATF fluid needing changed or lack of servicing. You dont say what miles are on it so best thing to do is go to a tranny shop and some places give you a free estimate without tearing the tranny apart.Try to find a shop with a good reputation and dont let them talk you into a new transmission. If you want a real expert on this,i have a good friend in Lakeside CA.CO-OP transmissions.Give him a call and ask for anthony.I am sure he can tell you what is wrong with it.Then you will know what to expect when you go to a shop where you live.
