Question
My car can not stay above idle and car dies out. Dealer states asr unit as problem? ... Had transmission changed 6 months ago because transmission locked up .

This unit is extremely complex and hard to diagnose.Did your ASR or ESP light come on the dash?If so you must have the system checked by the dealer.What he said is probably correct as the asr(automatic slip reducer)is connected from the abs system to the rear brakes and also thru the throttle.The car may go into limp mode if not repaired.I dont think the transmission has anything to do with this problem.
