QuestionQUESTION: Hi, On my 1992 nissan truck 2WD should the clutch master cylinder push rod have a few MM of play before the peddle pushes on it or is it adjustable for some reason? If so please explain how to adjust and what it does. I have messed with it in the past when having trouble with slave unit and not sure how it was adjusted from factory.
Thanks, great service.
ANSWER: You should not need to adjust the rod as it is set in the factory. Why do you want to adjust it?If you cannot get a good pedal, its probably time to change both cylinders. It may also be that the clutch components are also worn.Pressure plate, disc, bearing.

QUESTION: Hi, Should the master clutch push rod have a few mm play? Any idea what factory setting is? And yes it is time to change some parts. Was wanting to know what play should be in push rod after I install new master, it looks like it has been messed with before. Seems like the few master cylinders I have changed required a couple MM slop. This one has no play.
Thanks and Merry Christmas. Daryl
AnswerThe adjuster on the master is for free play on the pedal and usually you dont need to adjust it.You will need to install it and see how much pedal play you have usually about 3 inches before the clutch starts to grab.If you have too much play or too little, adjust as needed, and so on.The internal seals and spring in the cylinder are set and no adjustment is possible. If there is some small play, thats the way it was made, some have and some do not.
