Question i have a 1990 Ford E-250 that will not start. When i turn the key theres aclick noise that comes from the cellanoid switch located in front of the battery and only clicks once. does that mean the cellanoid is bad or possibily the starter. i had the cellanoid replaced 8 months ago.
Answer If you turn the key and the starter doesnt crank, its a common fault for the solenoid to be suspect on this vehicle.Even though you replaced it last year, its possible that it has failed again.I would look at your starter to see if this is why it is burning out solenoids.Easy way to test the solenoid is jump the terminals with a heavy screwdriver.Dont hold it on there too long just enough to see if the starter will engage. If the starter still doesnt work then remove the starter and have it checked.
general auto repair, japanese, bmw, mercedes, mini cooper 1960/2009,general british cars, ford.I DO NOT work on automatic transmissions.Manual transissions i install clutches only. Many people ask me to diagnose noises from their cars, unfortunately i cannot do this unless i hear it.As you appreciate, vehicles can and will make a variety of noises.I DONT UPGRADE or fit aftermarket performace kits, parts, chips, only replacement parts.
