Question
Hi,, have a 96 saturn sl2,dualoverhead cam..have a prob with it ideling at 1500-2000,have had teh codes pulled and all it says is EDR valve..replaces the egr,the temp sending unit,ALL the vacumn hoses, even the sneaky ones behind the engine..still throws an EGR code.doesn't matter if egr or temp sensor is disconnected or not.starts fine but when ya come to a stop sign it idles at 1500..please????

Answer
A leak at the intake manifold will make it idle high. With a vacuum guage, make sure you have vacuum going to the EGR valve as there is a VSV valve on the thermostat body that operates via the temp.Follow the vacuum hoses to it and see if the valve isnt broken or cracked. If you have a leak at the intake, its best to replace this gasket to eliminate the possible leak. Its pretty easy to do.The gasket isnt expensive.
