Question I have a 88 Chevy Caprice. I recently had problems starting the engine. I just changed the distributor cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. Now the engine wont start. Sometimes it will start briefly but I have the gas pedal all the way to the floor and once i let go it stops. Are there any other things I should be checking for? Thank you.
Answer Assuming you didn't move the Distributor, or remove it, and reinstall it out of 'time', it is possible a Vacuum Line may have been brittle, and if you brushed against it, the Line may have fractured, or broken off. You'll unfortunately have to check each Vacuum Line, one at a time, until you find the broken Line. Once you find the broken Vacuum Line, you'll have to match it up to a similar size piece of hose, and remove what's left of the old Line, then install the new Line. Make sure the new Line fits snugly over the fittings at each end where it connects. Other than that, and without the car in front of me, it's difficult to say what else could be wrong.
