Question
Two days ago my truck started running hot out of the blue. I would run it. Stop on the side of the road to let it cool down. Then run it again, many times till I got home. I changed my thermostat and all seemed fine except a whining noise coming from the front of the engine for the first 4-5 minutes i cranked it. This morning on the way to work, same thing happened but when I got further down the road some clanging started, like my valves were not seated. A good 15 minutes later it started to over heat again. I tried to make it to work. With less than 2 miles to go I pulled over and checked my oil dipstick. It was frothy. I thought water in my oil. I wanted to make it to work so I thought I could make it. Didn't with less than 1/10th to go. The oil light came on and the truck went dead. The dip stick smelled of gas. It has also blown out the side of my engine, gas/oil. What is going on? Is it dead? Thanks.

Answer
you either have a corrded head gasket..or...the timimng chaind has worn a hole thorought the side of your timimng cover..

both will cause coolant in the oil..

depending on how long you drove with contaminated oill..the bottom end may have been damaged also...

pull the spark plugs and see if 1 of them has coolant or none..
that will give you a good clue whats happing..

good luck..
