Automotive - fuel pump 79 f100 302

Expert: Ron Cris - 2/18/2008

Question
After repalcement, looks like the oil needs to be replaced due to old pump leaking internaly. Should this change the shortness of time for fuel line from rear of truck to pump to the front, up to carb. tested cranking, and put fuel directly into carb, fires up, but still doesn't seem to be coming up through pump to carb. How long after turning over engine, should fuel pump through new pump?

Answer
It should pump immedeatly unless it has been parked for some time.
Check for cracks in the fuel line between the pump and the gas tank..You may be sucking air..
good luck..RC
