Question

Hi, i am trying to do the timing on my 5.7L chevy TBI system engine and have
been unable to do so correctly so far. when i got the truck the timing was
very far advanced. i retarted the timing down to 0 degrees now it runs much
better however it still is not quite right i have power lag for the start and
when it gets into overdrive its seams like it is bogging out. also it smells of
gas when running more then your normal old truck exhaust. what can i do???

Answer
did you disconect the computer connection wire before you set the timimng.
it must be disconected to set on 0degrees.
after you hook it back up the onboard computer willlset the advance timine
it is a 1 wire plug located on the firwall.
GOOD LUCK.
RC
