Automotive/1980 Corolla Ignition System Problem

Question
Hi Sean,
I have a 1980 Toyota Corolla, it quit on me(I don't know if the circumstances lead to the problem or it was just time for old age to kick in).  While stuck in traffic, engine temp went up not to overheat but considerably.  I made it home, then the next morning it started, but died.  I've checked out the fuel supply, good.  It's got no spark, and I have(I think) narrowed the problem to the igniter box.  My dilemma now is that I cannot find any available igniter.  Is a conversion to aftermarket parts easy?  Or do you know a relatively quick procurement of a quality original igniter?

Answer
If you are sure its the igniter, try ebay or Napa as they are good for older car parts.Autozone also have many new and used parts.Failing that, you can ask on the web for a used one via parts finder which is sent to numerous junk yards all over the USA.Carquest can maybe help also.Older cars are harder to get parts such as this as many stores will not carry them but it usually takes 2-3 days to order and it can be got as i have gotten parts for 1950s up to 60s and 70s.
