Automotive/91 ford ranger engine losing power drastically

Question
I have a 91 ford ranger v6 3.0 and my check engine light is on and when i start the vehicle it rumbles really bad and wants to die. When i start driving it it will go then all the sudden loses power in mid-drive and wants to die. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, fuel pressure regulator. Some guy told me if i take the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator it should rev high or die. I got a brand new one on and when i take the hose off it still does nothing.  Any ideas??

Answer
You will need to scan the computor to find the codes. If you dont, you will not be able to find the correct sensor or fault. This is why the light comes on,to let you know there is a problem in the system.Your car is obd1,so you will need to have it scanned by the proper tool.
