Question
fuel pump removal, if tank has to be removed how does it
come out.

Answer
This is a in tank pump. You will need to raise the car as to have enough room to lower the tank. This is a fairly big job and exrememly dangerous if you have never attempted this, its best left to a shop(fire risk). If you still want to do it then, raise the car, disconnect the feed/return pipes, filler neck and any cables, wires from under the tank.It will have the wiring harness going to the pump/sender unit and also the evap pipes will need to be removed.First you will have disconnected the battery terminal, the negative side.Loosen all bolts holding the support straps. When you have all the pipes and wiring free, then lower the empty tank with help as it is very hard to balance the tank because it is reasonably heavy. Most shops will use a jack specially for this. The tank must be empty so you will have to drain it with a pump or siphon.Once you have the tank out,you will see a plate on top which is removed to access the pump/sender.Replace the unit and replacement of tank is reverse procedure. It is a good idea to have a proper fire extinguisher standing by.One that is for gasoline,DO NOT USE water.
