Question
I have a 1954 olds 88 with power steering and hydramatic trans.I installed a rebuilt carb and fuel pump because the car has been siting for many years. The problem is that when i come to a hard stop it stalls. But when i come to a slow creeping stop it does not stall. The car does not have power brakes.  THANKS

Answer
Did you flush out the fuel system? If the carb is rebuilt, you may need a bigger pilot jet to raise the idle slightly. It sounds like the jet may be too small or the float may be sticking.Did you try to up the idle slightly?,,,,700,,,,800 rpm when warm  is good.I would also fit a inline filter in the fuel system to catch any dirt in the tank.
