Question I have a 1994 Olds 88 which has a growling noise in the right front area of the car when moving. If you are driving and holding the steering wheel straight or left of center the noise is quite loud, however if turning right the noise disappears. I am assuming that this is a bad wheel bearing/hub assbly. My questions are,
1. Is my assumption correct?
2. How does the hub/brg asssbly come off the shaft.
3. In checking parts, apparently there is a Chinese import part available for this application. What do you know about that part.
I have been working on cars etc for about 30 years, so I have plenty of experience. I really appreciate you making yourself available to help people such as myself. I try to help people as much as I can. Thank You!
Answer yes..i agree..sound like a bad wheel bearing to me..
if i remember correctly.
the hub and bearing unit just unbolts off of the steering knuckle.
remove the center cv axle nut.brakes and rotor.
you should be able to change it out quite easy.
the chinees bearing should be good enough..
it is probably the cheapest...
Good luck..
