Automotive - Waterpump on 1996 Ford contour

Expert: Ben Deutschman - 7/28/2008

Question
Hello Dear,I had my 1996 Ford Contour twice at a radiator shop for a water pump, now it is leaking again, whats the chance off getting two water pumps that leak or is there some thing the place could do wrong?

Answer
It is possible to get two defective Water Pumps in a row, and those Pumps should have some kind of warranty on them, anywhere from 30 days, to lifetime, depending on the rebuilder. In so far as what the Shop could have done wrong, I honestly can't say, not being entirely familiar with the layout of the engine in your car, and in particular how the Belt (or Belts), and Pulleys are configured. Hopefully the Shop will cover the Labor, and other than the inconvenience of not having your car for a while, that's all you'll have to deal with.
