Question Hi. How do you check the fuel pump on this truck? With everything turned off (ac/heater blower, radio, no buzzer, etc.) to ensure quietness, if I just turn the key on should I hear the fuel pump make a noise? Because I do not hear anything. It turns over but will not start. It just began this two days ago. I'm not sure the proper sequence to go through for troubleshooting this, but I thought the fuel pump was supposed to make a noise. Could this be a relay or fuse? Where is the fuel pump located? Starter fluid spray didnt help. Please help, and thanks one million times.
Answer a 79 chevy should have a mechanical fuel pump located on the passenger side of the engine.you cannot hear it.
only electric pumps make noise..
look for cracked hose betewwn the fuel pump and the gas tank..that is common..to check the fuel pump. you must loosyten the fuel line to the carb..and crank the engine to see if gas comes out..be careful...
good luck..rc
