Automotive/1990 corolla dx slow pick up

Question
I have a 1990 Toyota corolla that from takeoff takes forever to pick up speed. once it gets going its fine. It shifts fine so I don't think its the transmission but I could be wrong. Any suggestion would be great.

Answer
I assume its automatic. If the transmission isnt slipping in first then it could be engine problems such as loss of compression but i would be guessing as to why it is slow. You will need to have the transmission looked at by a tech for the correct pressure from the atf pump and it may need overhauled.Same with the engine,if this car has high mileage, its most likely loss of compression due to worn rings, valves and hence lack of power.
