constance miss or poping until about 40mph then it smooths out and no problem until a re-start

Answer
Misfires can be caused by many things such as wires,plugs,coil pack,depends on how often you service the truck.As to the exact cause,i would be guessing as there are specific procedures to find which part is faulty.A misfire will nearly always set the CEL.
