Question
QUESTION: Just curious if this engine is a non-interference engine?

ANSWER: Most Mitsubishi engines are interference engines so change the timing belt as per factory recommendations.

QUESTION: If I threw the belt while on the freeway but did not hear anything in regards to metal on metal is there a chance I did not damage the engine?

Answer
There is a very slim chance you didnt hit the valves with the pistons.About one in a hundred, not impossible as i have seen this happen and the engine was fine but you need to set up the timing marks and fit a new belt to check compression. If you are down on any cylinders then you bent the valves.
