Automotive/Ford Expedition 2000 model XLT

QuestionI seldom use my expedition since I have other cars that is more economical to use. Fact is this expedition ran 25,000 kilometers only since I bought it 8 years ago.
My problem is its fluctuating idling. I had it checked in a Ford Service center here in Manila. This is what I got as their findings. PO301-Cyl no.1 misfire detected. Cyl no relative compression 36% oil found in sparkplug no 1. Recommendation - TOP OVERHAUL!
Does this really happen to a vehicle that was driven only 25,000 KM? Seldom used? Do I need to try onother service center for a second opinion? The engine does not have any trace of oil leak. The rough idle was a big surprise because it happened after I used it the other day.
What should I request to do? Electrical check for power distribution? Please advise. Thank you very much. FORD charges expensive here in MANILA.
AnswerNo compression on #1 can be a sticking valve lifter as these are hydraulic. The oil in the cylinder is because the valve isnt closing all the way.If you drive the car for an hour or so,see if the valve clears and becomes unstuck as this may happen due to not driving it for some time.If not,the valves will need inspected for wear.It does sound like the lifter isnt compressing but i have seen them take maybe 1-2 hrs or driving to compress after rebuild due to worn lifters.Once the lifter fills with oil it should run ok.To replace the lifters is a major job on this car.
