Automotive - balljoints

Question
Hi. I have a 1988 corolla that needs a right front ball joint. How hard is it to change it. Does it just unbolt or do i have to pry it out. Thanks, Phil

Answer
Right front, has upper and lower so you might as well change both at once.Theyre not that expensive but you may need a seperator tool which you can buy.Or,a big heavy 2 pounder hammer and hit the joint at the side  ,Thats after you loosen the nut and cotter pin but dont remove the nut all the way. Never hit the joint at the bottom or top.It will pop loose after a couple of good wacks.A good jack and axle stands are recommended for this and support the car safely. The tool costs about $10.
