Question
I own a 2005.5 VW Jetta tdi, the turbo seems slow to kick in.  Once it kicks in a puff of black smoke comes out.  I have no idea what the problem might be.  Can anyone help?

Answer
The turbo needs serviced and cleaned out.The turbo on this car,and most cars, require regular service as carbon will build up in the intake and make response slower. Most turbos are oil/water and air cooled and if either breaks down, the turbo can blow out.A major engine service would be a good idea and check also for the turbo pressure and all hoses/filters are good.
