Question
I have a manual transmission and I have been hearing a whistling sound when I'm accelerating through each gear. I can only hear the sound when my rpms reach around 2500. Also I will hear it when I'm going down the interstate and I accelerate. It will only make the sound for about 1 second and I have listened to it a lot and tried to see where the sound is coming from because if I have the gas pedal positioned just right it will constantly make the sound. What could this possibly be?

Answer
It could be a Vacuum Hose under the Hood with a small crack in it, or a vacuum leak in the Air Intake System. Given the number of Hoses under the Hood of most modern cars, and therefore numerous possibilities for Vacuum leaks, it would be impossible to know which one is the culprit, without having the car in front of me.
