Automotive/BMW Persistent Camshaft Sensor Error

Question
I have a 1997 328i with a 140k miles which recently gave me a camshaft sensor error. I replaced it with a new sensor and cleared the error code but after running the engine it gives me the same error. I bought a second camshaft sensor thinking the first maybe defective but the error code continues. I slid the rubbers boot down on connector plug and the wires/connector look good. Is there something else can check or any diagnostics I can run?

I would appreciate any help

Answer
This was a problem with these models and the codes.Persistent faults such as brake light circuit, coolant level, engine sensors and washer fluid. The code may go away by itself but other than changing the pcm, there is no way to get rid of it.You have did what you could do by clearing the code. There could be a "ghost code"making the light come on if so it may need diagnosed by a more high tech diagnostic device such as the dealer has.It may be worth the $70 to have it read and cleared by the dealer.
