Automotive - 2007 Suzuki Grand Vetara Breaks
Expert: Sean Halliday - 10/20/2009
Question Hi I have a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I was changing the fron break pads and rotors tonight. First side went great no issues. When I started the other side I took the caliper off and tried to compress the piston that compresses the pads so I could get the new break pads in and fit around the rotor just like I had done to the other side. I did this with a C clamp on the first side with no problems and could not get the other side to copress even after trying a number of times. Any thoughts. Could this be that I have a faulty caliper? Any thoughts I would greatly appreciate.
Thanks Mike
Answer Rarely on a 2007 would you have a bad caliper.Try putting the old pad in the caliper so it is being pushed back evenly. You might be pushing one side which will make it lock up.Remove reservoir cap before squeezing pistons.Try pushing very gently on the brake pedal to push the piston out a tiny bit then try to squeeze it in.
