Automotive/oil leak

Question
I have a BMW 323i 1999, and for 3 weeks I've been hunting down a oil leak that I can't find. I've looked at the oil pan, oil filter and still can't locate wear the oil leak is coming from. It's leaking on the left side of the engine only. Can you suggest any area that I can investigate.

Answer
By left side i take it you mean the passenger side?.This would be the usual place as the oil passages run up this side and it could be a valve cover gasket.Without actually looking at this car i would be guessing but the usual places for leaks are the valve cover which is most common.Other possibles are,oil pressure switch, dip stick seal ring, cam seal, crank seal rear and front, oil pan,or the worst possibility, the head gasket.Let me know if you mean the passenger or drivers and i can go over the parts on that side.
