Question I have a 2002 mercury mountaineer and need to replace the ac hose assembly. I was wondering if you would be able to assist me in finding information on how to do this myself. I have tried to research it but have not been able to come up with anything.
Answer Unlikely to find any help with a/c as its always a specialist job similar to airbags. It can be difficult unless you can evac the system first and then refill but really without the aid of the expensive machine for doing this, you will not know if the system is sealed. It can be frustrating when after a few days all the gas escapes and youre back to square one. This job is best left to a shop unless you have a lot of experience with a/c systems,i myself dont work on them because of the need of this vacuum machine and its very expensive to buy gas just to see the system not work after spending a lot on parts.Your a/c system is high pressure and can be very dangerous to work with,if youre still wanting to work on it there is a manual from haynes that covers a/c...... heating ...for all cars.
