Automotive/1965 Dodge Dart

Question
I live in the Houston area and have a 1965 Dodge Dart convertible that I want to
sell.  I inherited it and it has been in a garage all of it's life.  In your opinion,
where would be the best place for me to list it?  It runs great with the exception
of the gas gauge not working.  Does it make sense for me to have that fixed
before I list it?  I really appreciate your answer.  Thanks

Answer
I would think your best bet would be to advertise the car through Hemmings Motor News ( http://www.hemmings.com ), Old Cars Weekly
( http://www.oldcarsweekly.com ), or Cars and Parts Magazine
( http://www.carsandparts.com ).

In so far as the Gas Gauge is concerned, though it would be a selling point to have the Gauge working, the reason it isn't, is probably the 'Sending Unit' in the 'Gas Tank' has gone bad. First, it may not be easy to locate a new 'Sending Unit'. Second, if you do find a new 'Sending Unit', it may be very costly. I was quoted $350.00 for a 'Sending Unit' for my 1960 Plymouth, and one for your Dart may not be much less expensive. The other thing you have to consider, is once you get a 'Sending Unit', you will have to pay someone labor to install the part, and depending upon the Shop, that could add $80.00-$100.00 to the cost of the job, maybe more.
