Question
Hi

I have a 2001 rover 45 and the clutch is playing up when I push the clutch in the pedal stays on the floor and won't come up until I either turn the engine off or stall the car It won't let me take it out of gear. i have checked the master and slave cylinders they both apper to be fine do you have ideas to what the problem might be.

Thanks Mark

Answer
This sounds more like a gearbox problem.I have never seen this happen so,i would try to run through the gears with the engine shut off and see what happens. It could be a bent clutch fork or clutch release bearing but its best to have a shop look at it.If the clutch pressure is good and you have found no hydraulic leaks, you will need to remove the gearbox to look further.
