Question
when car is running there's a loud knocking sound from the engine.a friend says it's the flywheel please help.i have a mitsubishi galant automatic trans. i think it's a 1990

Answer
While I won't profess to be an expert on Mitsubihi automobiles, in general, a knocking sound is not caused by a Flywheel. Depending upon the tone of the sound, it could be a Connecting Rod bearing, Crankshaft bearing, or Wrist Pin. At the very least, if your car's engine is not an Overhead Cam type, a bad Lifter could cause a lighter knocking/tapping sound. I'd have the car checked out by a qualified Mechanic.
