Question
My TL is experiencing random misses on all cylinders.  It has been suggested to me that I replace the camshaft position sensor.  The auto has 192K miles.  Where is the sensor located and how hard is it to replace it? What do I need to do to replace it?  Thanks

Answer
Misfires can be caused by many things. If the cam sensor has a problem, the check engine light will come on, as these are very sensitive. If no light came on,i would look at other possibilities such as plugs, wires, fuel filter, carbon build up in the throttle body.Make sure you have the correct plugs and are gapped correctly. You should have the compression tested also with high mileage its possible valve leak.If you wish to change the cam sensor anyway,it will be on the cylinder head towards the front of the engine, usually drivers side.
