Question
I have a leak right at where the caliper and brake line meets. It looks like its where the connection happens and not in the line. Should I just try to change out the assembly that connects them first or change the line? Also whatelse could it leak from since its right in that area? One more question! Its been a few years since i bled brakes and and I need a touch up course on how to get it done if you could.

Answer
Chances are the 'Crush Washer' between the end of the Brake Hose and the Caliper has eroded some, and it would make sense if you're going to the trouble of removing the Brake Hose to get at the 'Crush Washer', that you might as well replace the Hose. In so far as bleeding Brakes goes, if you don't have a Compressor, and an air operated 'Brake Bleeder', then you'll need two people. The person in the vehicle will pump the Brake Pedal several times upon your command, and then hold the Pedal while you crack open the Bleeder, watching for fluid to come out, and then before the person in the vehcile lets up on the Pedal, you close the Bleeder. If you don't get a steady stream of just fluid the first time, you'll have to repeat the procedure until you do, and make sure to check the Master Cylinder Reservoir between bleedings, so as to insure you have a full Reservoir each time before you start bleeding the Brakes. When you're done, and have a solid Pedal, check the Master Cylinder Reservoir one more time, and top off as needed. DON'T overfill, and ALWAYS make sure the Master Cylinder Cap is on tight before bleeding the Brakes.
