Question
Hi Sean,
I have 1989 Ford Lincoln town car. My is engine 5.0l. Engine coolant is leaking from behind the motor and over the transmission. I took off the top of my engine to see behind but i still dont see it. The leak is on the right when you look front the front. My question is what could cause the leak behind there?

Answer
Possibly a core plug is leaking.Thats also known as a freeze plug. They are put in the engine block at the factory after the engine has been built. They serve no purpose other than filling in the holes made by the machine which holds the block while it is being drilled out for the bores and other holes. If you get a mirror and flashlight you will see it.There are approx 10/12 of these in most engines.
