Automotive/clutch problem

Question
QUESTION: Clutch Wizard,
I have a 1984 Mustang 2.3 with a four speed transmission. I am trying to find out if I need a clutch quadrant kit or maybe a clutch and pressure plate. My clutch has started making a loud popping noise from under to dash. Then the peddle goes to the floor. If I pump the peddle a few times I get the clutch back but after a few more depressions it will pop loose again and go to the floor. There were no warning signs the transmission shifted as it did when new. Is it possible I just need a new clutch cable?
Any helpful information will be greatly appreciated.

ANSWER: Is it cable or hydraulic?.Check to see.

QUESTION: Its a cable

Answer
Look at the bulkhead and see if the cable has pulled through or the metal is cracked where the cable goes through into the engine. This is a common problem caused by too much pressure on the cable. The clutch may be ok but the cable and possibly release bearing may need to be replaced. On the gearbox, there is a mechanism to operate the clutch in and out, sometimes this can get worn and cause too much pressure so you will need to inspect this also.
