Question
Hi there,
I have a '73 Swinger that will turn over, but not fire. I usually start and run the car in the spring and fall, and a few times in between . Last fall, I wanted to park it on my yard for the winter, and it wouldn't start. When turning over, there is no fuel getting to the carb.I squirted some gas into the carb and it fired immediately and ran for a few seconds. What would you check, and in what order? Thanks in advance.

Answer
First two things I would check, are:

1. External Fuel Filter if your car has one between the Fuel Pump and Carburetor. Usually, it easier to just replace these Filters, versus trying to find out if they're clogged.

2. I'd try replacing the Fuel Pump.

Unless there is a significant amount of dirt in the Fuel Line, or the bottom of the Gas Tank, that has caused a clog, the above two are the primary culprits in regard to the problem you're experiencing.
