Question
Hi there Sean, We have a 1996 Nissan Maxima it won't pass emissions due to a misfire. How do I diagnose and repair this problem  thank you

Answer
Misfire is caused by one of 3 things,no spark, poor compression or no fuel.Test fuel pressure at the rail, check for spark and then do a compression test on the cylinder thats missing.99% of the time it is a bad wire.A basic tune up will help if the compression reads approx 120psi.Fuel pressure will be 45psi.
