Question
hi can you tell me the sequence for the timing for this motor

Answer
Slant-Six
Slant-Six
If you mean Firing Order, that would be 1-5-3-6-2-4, with number 1 being the Terminal on the Distributor Cap next to the Vacuum Advance. The timing varied over the years, but generally was 2-1/2 degrees before Top Dead Center, at 550 rpm in Drive, 650 for A/C equipped vehicles. You can bump the idle up a little, if the car seems to be lugging, or stalls at the lower idle, but not too much, as the car will go into gear quite hard if the idle is too high. All initial timing is done with the Vacuum Advance disconnected, and the port where the Vacuum Advance Line goes, plugged temporarily. Your Dwell Angle is 42 Degrees, and the Point Gap .017.-020. The Tappets are set to .010 Intake, .020 Exhaust, on a warmed up Engine, using a Flat Blade Feeler Gauge, with the Engine shut off. Before checking the Air Gap on each Tappet, make sure to crank the Engine over, and watch to see that the Valve Tappet you are about to check is fully closed. You should be able to wiggle the Tappet a bit, and there should be NO tension on the Pushrod.
