Automotive/540i starts ok, then dies

Question
I have a '95 540(vin #gf31614).  The car starts fine, though the idle is a little rough. After the car warms up(2-5 minutes), the car dies.
It will restart, but takes quite a few cranks, runs rough, then dies.
I am getting no engine codes during this.
(I can keep it running by spraying ether into the air filter intake and runs fine). After I stop the ether, the engine dies.
Once the car cools down, the car will start, warms up, then dies.
I have replaced the intake(bottom, front, rear), all hoses.
Could the oil seperator cause this? or the pcv valve?
I have no vacuum at the oil dipstick or the oil filler cap. SHould I have vacuum?Very little vacuum from the pcv hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
The compression for each cylinder is approx 165 psi.
I bypassed the fuel pump relay to make sure it wasn't failing.
The car started, idled, then died. Can a crankshaft sensor go flakey as it warms up? What does the 'camshaft' sensor do?
I'm getting spark everywhere
Can you help?? I don't know what else to do!! Thanks for your time

Answer
Check the fuel pressure first with a gauge and also the vacuum with a vacuum tester both can be bought at any parts store and are pretty cheap. This will tell you more.No or little fuel pressure means your fuel pump is failing.Which i suspect may be the cause.Try this and let me know so i can tell you more.Crank sensor isnt faulty and the cam sensor is ok.The car starts .
