Question
A friend of mine has a 95 nissan altima (OBD1).the CEL is on and he was told that the fault code is P1490,which, form whatever I could find out means,"Vacuum Cut Valve Bypass Valve".

We have no clue of what it means, could you please help us by telling what it exactly means and how much would we have to spend to get it repaired.
Thank you
Sandip

Answer
This valve is part of the EVAP system. That means its in the fuel supply/return to the tank so it will have to be repaired by a reputable shop. The valve is situated under the car at the rear usually close to the fuel tank.As for price, you will need to check around as it will vary.
